The Council of Patrons occupies an honorary and symbolic position within BIRDD’s governance architecture. Comprising distinguished national figures, the Council provides moral authority, institutional continuity, and high-level counsel in support of the Institute’s mission and public standing. The Council of Patrons holds no executive, fiduciary, or operational responsibilities and does not participate in day-to-day management or decision-making. Its role is advisory and representational, reinforcing BIRDD’s values, credibility, and long-term vision.
As the Life Patron of the Busia Institute, he brings a wealth of experience, wisdom, and leadership expertise to the organisation. Throughout his distinguished career, President Kufuor has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to public service, democracy, and human rights, earning him international recognition and respect.
Bafuo Kwabena Gyima Osei-Bonsu is a respected legal practitioner, statesman, and traditional leader with decades of service to Ghana. He, together with his colleague member of Parliament in the Second Republic of Ghana (1969-1972) - President J A Kufuor, serve on the BIRDD Council of Patrons.
