The Busia Institute for Rural and Democratic Development (BIRDD) is a non-partisan policy, research, civic education and leadership institute committed to democratic governance, rural transformation, informed citizenship, heritage preservation and sustainable national development.

Inspired by the scholarship, public service and democratic principles of Dr Kofi Abrefa Busia, BIRDD provides a platform for research, policy dialogue, public education and civic engagement.

The Institute believes that lasting progress requires informed leadership, active citizens, capable institutions and an honest understanding of history. Through research, publications, lectures, fellowships, civic education, heritage programmes and strategic partnerships, BIRDD connects knowledge with practical action in Ghana and beyond.
