Ghana's Free SHS Policy: A Strategic Revolution of Minds & Futures
On Tuesday, 4 August 2026, the Busia Institute for Rural and Democratic Development (BIRDD) will host the 2025 edition of its annual flagship lecture series, the Founders’ Day Lecture—formerly known as the BIRDD Lecture Series.
This high-level public forum provides a platform for the critical examination of national development issues, fostering dialogue, debate, and policy-relevant ideas for Ghana’s progress. The event aligns with the Institute’s mandate to advance democratic governance, promote civic engagement, and shape national discourse through values-based thought leadership.
The Founders’ Day Lecture also serves to honour the memory of Ghana’s founding figures—celebrating their vision, sacrifices, and aspirations for a free, just, and prosperous nation. It is a moment to reflect on their legacy and to inspire a new generation to build on the foundations they laid.
