BIRDD’s work is grounded in human dignity, constitutional democracy and liberty under law. The Institute studies how constitutional and indigenous institutions in Africa exercise authority and how citizens can hold leaders to account. It values private enterprise and secure property rights alongside social responsibility and public welfare. It supports decentralisation so that rural communities can shape their own development. Through independent research, civic education and open debate, BIRDD examines public policy in light of evidence and welcomes informed disagreement.
