2026 Busia Institute Lecture in London
The Busia Institute held the 2026 edition of its flagship programme, the Busia Institute Lecture, at the London Hilton on Park Lane in London, England, on 9 August 2026. The lecture, presented in collaboration with the Young Executive Forum (UK), was the first in the series outside Ghana.
Former Ghanaian President John Agyekum Kufuor, the Institute’s Life Patron and Special Guest of Honour, urged political leaders to protect democratic institutions and treat public office as a trust. In his keynote address, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh called for a reassessment of the achievements and shortcomings of Professor Kofi Abrefa Busia’s government. Dr Anane Agyei, Executive Director of the Institute, argued that political traditions should be judged by how their leaders exercise power and how their decisions affect citizens.
The programme also featured a screening of Busia in His Own Words and an exhibition of photographs and historical materials from the period of Busia’s government
